Sivas İmranlı-Gölemis Spring Saltworks: 10° Baumé Spring, Historical Salt Production and Mountain Salt Making

The İmranlı-Gölemis spring saltworks in Sivas: historically reported 10° Baumé saline spring water, traditional salt production and the geography of mountain salt making.

İmranlı-Gölemis Spring Saltworks is one of the documented saline-spring production areas in the mountainous eastern part of Sivas Province.

10° Baumé Spring

Regional technical data record saline spring water of around 10° Baumé at Gölemis. As with other historical brine measurements, the figure represents a documented observation rather than a guaranteed constant modern value.

Mountain Hydrogeology

In rugged terrain, faults, fractures and permeable sedimentary units can create groundwater pathways connecting recharge areas with saline evaporite horizons. The resulting springs may discharge at valley sides or along stream systems.

Traditional Salt Making

Production from a relatively dilute natural brine requires careful evaporation management. Summer heat and dry air become central natural energy sources, linking the production calendar directly to local climate.
